Lux
Annual video from Lux Helsinki. This year we had quite warm and wet weather for this time of the year. I used Korg Minilogue morphed with Soma Ether for synth parts. Ether was recorded to video's audio track and that sound was used on DAW. Little Ether you hear was recorded same time as video was shot. There is little of Pigments 2. Choir is Spitfire's Eric Whitacre Choir. Video was shot with Sony A6600.
Short video from last week's Lux Helsinki 2019. Footage is from two different night. There might be some continuity errors because of that.
Lux Helsinki 2018 is now on Vimeo if you want to see it there rather than in Youtube. I won't be uploading weekly to Vimeo. Free account has total limit. I need to thing what I upload there. I now have three videos there and I have hit first fifth of total space of free account.
Lux Helsinki 2018 started next weekend after New Year's Eve. I didn't dare go there on Saturday. This was shot on Sunday when busiest had already seen the event. You can get more info from the event from https://www.luxhelsinki.fi/en/
I am week late with this video. I didn't want to do editing and music during workday evenings. Music is made for this video. You can hear what Analog Rytm, Analog Four and Roland SE-02 can do.
Tomorrow's video will be from Lux Helsinki 2018. It will be first video where I didn't use auto ISO. I don't remember using manual ISO in previous videos. I am going more and more into everything manual. I still use auto white balance. Everything else is manual when ever it makes sense. Lux Helsinki 2018 was shot using auto focus. It is better option with zoom lens or longer focal lengths. You just need to plan where to set focus points.
Auto ISO let you have darker video without it getting lighter when you didn't shoot at lights. New Year's eve video had one shot where image got brighter when I panned. I couldn't cut that part away. Maybe I should have cut the whole shot but it is there because I liked it too much otherwise. That shouldn't happen in future. Manual ISO wasn't as hard as I expected. Auto ISO is still useful when you want to have same brightness when lighting conditions change. Sometimes you want to show lighting conditions changing.
I used different stabilization methods in all three Lighting the Darkness videos. This time it was monopod. I had lost my touch with it. I have used gimbal after I got it almost always when I would have used monopod earlier. Monopod still have some advantages on gimbal. Overall gimbal is better. You can move with and panning is more consistent if you have correct settings.
I talked about Analog Four and Analog Rytm on Monday's post. Both were used in the video as was Roland SE-02. I waited for plugin controller for it. I found one last week. I want to automate instruments I use. For some reason nobody has made Max4Live device for it or at least released one. First three boutiques got their quite quickly. You can expect to hear more SE-02 in future.
Lux Helsinki 2018 starts tomorrow. Here is video I shot from last year's event. You have to wait two weeks for this year's video. I don't know which day I go there. Probably not tomorrow. Which means I would have to do editing and music during workdays' evenings if I wanted video ready next week. Lux Helsinki 2016 had cold weather. This had little snow but weather was quite warm for winter and snow was melting away. This year it looks like no snow and even warmer weather.
