Light Show
Lux Helsinki 2018 is now on Vimeo if you want to see it there rather than in Youtube. I won't be uploading weekly to Vimeo. Free account has total limit. I need to thing what I upload there. I now have three videos there and I have hit first fifth of total space of free account.
This is same video I uploaded to Youtube less than month ago. Now you can watch it in Vimeo too. First video there hasn't been too popular but I will keep publishing videos there just in case people find me there.
Lux Helsinki 2018 starts tomorrow. Here is video I shot from last year's event. You have to wait two weeks for this year's video. I don't know which day I go there. Probably not tomorrow. Which means I would have to do editing and music during workdays' evenings if I wanted video ready next week. Lux Helsinki 2016 had cold weather. This had little snow but weather was quite warm for winter and snow was melting away. This year it looks like no snow and even warmer weather.

Another year. Another Christmas Eve at the center of Helsinki. Another video about black Christmas. This is little bit shorter than I planned. I forgot to take spare batteries with me. Battery run out early due cold weather. It might have been blessing since I was feeling quite cold at that point.
Style was more subtle than I thought when I shot the video. It works better with faster moving objects than people. Music is original music done with Albion V Tundra and AIR Vacuum Pro.
I would be lying if I said I planned the video to look like this. I didn't know how one setting on camera worked when I shot this. It looked good enough to be published. It might look like it is planned but it wasn't. I will be doing video using same technique in near future. That time style will be planned.
Lux is my favorite event to shoot. There is always something cool looking and light installations tend to be close each others. Lux 2016 was plagued with cold weather. This video was shot last day of Lux. It wasn't much warmer than previous day but I couldn't wait any longer.
Linnanmäki is amusement park in Helsnki. During Autumn they have the Carnival of Light for over a week. The park has special lighting and is open late at night. Here you see what it looked like from sunset to when it was dark.
