I have been away for a while. When I started a break from making videos I started break from most content creation activities. It wasn't my intention but it went that way. I wanted to do something else. One of the other things was getting into anime. To do that in Finland means you have to start buying dvds and blu-rays. At least if you want to do it legally.
I would buy everything digitally if it is possible. I have huge collection of cds, dvds and blu-rays from time when it wasn't possible. All my music is in iTunes. Cds are there only taking space. Dvds and blu-rays I have to watch if I want to watch what is in them. I prefer digital media for ease of use and not taking more physical space than small portion of hard drive. If it is streaming it doesn't even take than.
Digital media has one down side. When manufacturer stops selling it you can't buy them any more. Psycho Pass in photo is still so new you could find it but I wouldn't have seen Ergo Proxy or Serial Experiments Lain legally if there weren't physical media. There are few other anime I need to find physical media because they are not available online.
I kind of want to get back into collecting physical media and kind of don't want to. On music side I don't have Battlestar Galactica soundtracks because local iTunes store doesn't have them. Other countries have them. This is another problem with digital media. If something is digital only you can be prevented from buying it by not giving it to your country. I don't see why anyone want to do that unless someone in the middle wants too big cut from sales. You can easily buy physical media from other country.
