Homestudio setup is almost ready. Still need synth stand extension for Beatstep Pro. Been postponing it because I wasn’t sure if I should add something else to order. Last weekend I decided to go with what I currently have. I wasn’t too happy with Pulse 2 but started to get it. Pulse 2 should have oscillator drift option. It has super stable DCOs. Three super stable oscillators don’t sound as good as three drifting oscillators. Everything else is amazingly good. If they decide to update firmware I would like to have more modulation destinations added. LFO 2 speed and more modulation matrix slot amounts would be nice.
Now I have set of synths all connected and easily available. There is more eurorack than originally planned. Minibrute 2 wasn’t in plan. Planned to have setup with synths I can fully control with midi and use presets. That went away after learning Krell patches. Still tempted to get 2600 euros west coast modular system but that has to wait for now. Being able to save and tweak performances is handy when making songs takes few days. That is why I prefer full midi control and presets. Eurorack has its own advantages like having more complex signal paths and modulations and random rhythms.
There are still things to be upgraded but the main parts are there now and I can start to learn use them properly. Want to play notes more than I have done before. Adding notes to sequence is easier but it lacks the human feel. Because of that there might be break for new music videos. Probably make some generative music when Beatstep Pro is added to setup. But the main goal of new studio was making it easier to play the music not just creating sequences.
Talking about upgrading. I am considering getting 61 key midi keyboard. Not because I really need it but because I have room for one now. If Arturia decides to release limited edition all black keys version of Keylab 61 I might have to get one. All black keys look good as you can see from picture above. Looking cool is most important. Already have black Minibrute 2S and Beatstep Pro.
