I didn’t plan to complete bass pedalboard so soon. It just happened because I knew which pedals I wanted and pedals were available on local stores. Didn’t get all pedals and board same time. Had the board incomplete before last weekend but didn’t remember to write a post about it.
Board is Guitto GPB-03. Selected it because it is cheap and it doesn’t need velcro. It costed about quarter of my guitar pedalboard. I considered it for guitar pedal board but it was too small. After getting it I realized these need to be bigger than normal pedalboards with velcro to fit as many pedal. Connection system takes more room than I expected. This is the biggest board. It can take six normal sized pedals per row. In the other hand this connection system keeps pedals tightly connected. Much tighter than velcro. You need really thin power supply if you want to have it under the board. That is why my power supply is on top of board.
Rockboard is better option if you want more pedals and cleaner cable management. This doesn’t have holes to get cables through board and not as much room below the board. If you want cheap board, don’t want to use velcro and pedals and power supply fit on top of board this is good option. It works for this board. It is not a problem if pedals have velcro, Polytune and Giygas have velcro. Not a problem. They are as tightly connected as other pedals.
I already wrote about some of the pedals in planning post. LMB-3 will stay on board. It does what I want and I have it almost always on. I don’t see any reason to upgrade it compressor I wanted. Giygas is still silent enough. Probably having it as first effect pedal without buffer before it solved issues I had with it on guitar pedalboard. It is so versatile I don’t think there are any pedals which could replace it.
Then to new pedals. MXR Bass Envelope Filter felt like best option for envelope filter because of ability to mix dry and wet sound. I still need to learn to use it but I think I get everything I want from it. It is not those pedals where every spot is sweet spot. I have found few sweet spots and many not so sweet spots. I knew I will get Walrus Audio’s chorus. I like Polychrome so much I wanted chorus with similar features. Wasn’t sure which one to get. Ended up getting Julia because I want to keep this board simple and for some reason it sounded better than Julianna in videos. And there weren’t any bass demos of Julianna.
After I heard slow Earthquaker Devices Grand Orbiter on synth I knew it is the phaser for this board. If not for this one then for synth board but I had to have one. It can do more but even if it couldn’t that slow movement is something I wanted. Reason why I have chorus and phaser is JAM Pedals’ Ripply Fall Bass or should I say its demo videos. Chorus and phaser sounded so good together in those demos but I wanted more control and had power for both pedals. Meaning I didn’t need to leave out anything I really want to get two modulation pedals.
These pedals should give me everything I want. I might change Flashback to Flashback II but other pedals should stay for a long time.
