I have planned this video for months. Ever since I found two Cthulhu tracts. You can find both here. I was bit shocked how short it turned out to be. I didn’t plan to follow Cthulhu tracts’ template but when I started to write it I couldn’t think any other way to make it work without inventing lot of new mythos or really studying Cthulhu mythos. When I wrote it it had almost everything I wanted which I could add with boundaries I had. And it was shorter than I expected but it felt so tight I didn’t want to add anything more.
I am not sure if I should mention video was shot with Mavic Air. Footage from Mavic Air doesn’t look anywhere what is in the video. I didn’t buy DaVinci Resolve Studio for noise reduction but the noise reduction saved the video. Mavic Air’s footage looked really noisy mess but DaVinci Resolve’s noise reduction did wonders with it. You need paid version for it. It still has some noise but it looks much better than it was originally. It took my computer to knees but end result was worth it.
It took two nights to get enough footage for the video. It felt like battery lasted less on first night when I had camera set to auto. With manual setting it seemed to last longer. I didn’t check it from watch. It just felt battery run out too early on first night and on second I had time to spare and take extra footage. There was firmware upgrade during first night which could have helped second night. Firmware doesn’t include D-log which I think it should have. Osmo has it. Why not Mavic Air too? It would make it easier to combine footage from both. I don’t want to shoot non-log with Osmo because it has it. Same with Sony cameras.
I bought Sonicouture’s Haunted Spaces for this kind of videos. Apparently it has some learning curve. I didn’t get it as fast as I wanted. I liked what I got from it but it wasn’t what I originally planned. I guess I should learn to use software before trying to use it on video. Other people seem to get good sounds out of it. I got too but I don’t know it well enough to know how to get different sounds out of it. It is more of trial and error.
It was fun to make horror video. I will do more of those in the future if this gets more views than my normal videos. I will do those if I get good ideas but if this becomes popular I have to just start making them more.
